Windermere Lake Cruises has a large fleet of modern and traditional launches and ‘steamers’, which operate the full length of Windermere, calling at Waterhead, Bowness and Lakeside.
A return cruise between Bowness and Waterhead takes about 1.25 hours. A return cruise between Bowness and Lakeside takes about 1.5 hours, and a return cruise round the whole lake takes about 3 hours. It's also possible to spend all day on and around the lake if you buy a 'Freedom of the Lake' ticket.
You’ll be treated to stunning views of mountain scenery, secluded bays and the many wooded islands. Add to this the opportunity to break up your cruise with some fantastic local attractions and you have the makings of a perfect day out.
The 'steamer' boats are well equipped and many have nice extras such as refreshment bars and covered viewing decks where you can admire the stunning views regardless of the weather.
