East Riding - Flamborough Head Circular Walk
3.9km of scenic coastal views and chalk cliffs
Explore this 3.9km looped route of spectacular chalk cliffs near Sewerby, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Generally considered an easy route, the trail takes no more than 1.5 hours to complete and is open all year round.
The starting point for this walk is the public car park at North Landing. The route is designed to give you the best views of the coast from all angles of the chalky cliffs that form Flamborough Head.
The terrain is pretty easy, following clear grassy paths and then ending along a quiet road. There are no stiles or livestock on the route. Remember to keep children close and dogs on the lead on the sections close to the cliff edge.
On a sunny day, the turquoise sea might trick you into thinking you’ve somehow stumbled on to a Greek island!
The area is home to some fabulous wildlife, making it a great place for a bit of birdwatching or seal spotting. The walk is good for all ages as it isn’t very challenging.
Other routes can also be taken to extend your walk and get the best views of the two standing lighthouse towers, the oldest dating from 1669 and Flamborough Head Lighthouse built in 1806.
