Norfolk - Royal Cromer Golf Club

Test your skills at the second oldest golf course in Norfolk

Situated between the town and Overstrand and standing some 320 feet above the sandy beaches, this links course has seen some significant updates over the years thanks to coastal erosion. Architects James Braid, JH Taylor, Frank Pennink and Donald Steel have all had a hand in its design.

Originally designed by Old Tom Morris in 1888, the current design has been constructed out of sandy hills covered with gorse and bracken and interlaced with grassy valleys. It's a tidy and well kept course and is also regarded as one of Norfolk's finest and has many spectacular views across the North Sea.

Royal Cromer's greatest claim to fame is that it hosted the first ever international golf match - the ladies of Great Britain against America - as a precursor to the British Ladies Championship in 1905. As a result of this, the Curtis sisters presented the now famous Curtis Cup.
