Sutherland - Go Wild Highlands Canoe Tours

An unmissable way to immerse yourself in the Highland scenery

Based in Lairg in East Sutherland, in the Scottish highlands, Go Wild Highlands is a small, family business that runs guided canoe trips down the Kyle of Sutherland and in other Scottish Highland locations.

The chosen locations are scenic, rarely visited and generally well suited to those without previous paddling experience. You'll get a real sense of adventure and some unbeatable views of the Scottish Highlands.

The trips are ideal for the beginner or anyone looking for a slow adventure rich in wildlife, scenery and history.

The company operates out of Invergordon and Lairg. Food plays an important part in all the trips, often including a picnic with home baked sour dough bread, home grown salad and locally produced smoked fish, meats and cheeses as well as home made cakes and biscuits.

Their most popular trip is a guided open canoe journey down the sheltered waters of the Kyle of Sutherland. These excursions are small scale, personal and will take you well off the beaten track. The 4-hour journey will go through country rich in wildlife, tracing a figure of eight course through narrow creeks and around wooded islands.

As you paddle down the Kyle of Sutherland you'll be struck by the utter peace and beauty of the surroundings. It's a place where the sky meets land and water in a grand sweeping gesture and where you may hear the call of Whooper swans and herons, or even spot an otter or a sea eagle.
