RAF Wainfleet is an ex bombing range whose buildings havr been converted into unusual holiday accomodation. Along side the buildings are now an aeroplane and helicopter glaming pods. Associated with this site is a second site comprising of a number of pods converted from various other vehicles uncluding a fire engine, tank, combine harvester, army ambulance and another helicopter.
On site itself there is a communal games room equipped with darts board, table tennis and pool table so far plus the addition of a Lynx military helicopter and a Jetstream aeroplane for the kids to enjoy. Both these forms of unusual accommodation have been recently to be turned into glamping pods for all ages.
Stunning views are provided by the control room at the top of the tower, where you can still see the remains of boats that were once used as targets on the range. The marshland you can see over the last sea bank is a site of special scientific interest (SSSI) and if you’re a bird watcher or enjoy a good sunrise and sunset, you’ve definitely found the right place to stay!
