Lanarkshire - Lanark Golf Club

A little-known gem of a golf course

A memorable golfing experience awaits you at Lanark Golf Club, one of the oldest golf clubs in the world.

The main course is a par 70 moorland course laid out over ancient glacial sands and designed by James Braid.

Stunning views of Tinto and the surrounding hills and wildlife of the Southern Uplands provide the perfect frame for your round.

Founded in 1851, the delightful course measures 6,428 yards from the back tees and opens with a gentle par 4 hole, but then ramps up the challenge over the next three 400-yard, par 4 holes and precision is needed to stay on par.

By modern standards, Lanark is relatively short, but the greens are deceptive, there are mature trees to navigate and the putting is fast thanks to the excellent green conditions.

This is a lesser-known course so you're pretty much guaranteed a peaceful game without too much disruption from other golfers.

For younger or less experienced golfers, there's also 'The Wee Course', a par 29, 9-hole course that gives just the right level of challenge.

Founded in 1851, the delightful Lanark golf club is one of the worlds oldest courses.
