Cambridgeshire - The City of Cambridge

Historic, academic Cambridge

Home to more Nobel Prize winners than any other UK city, Cambridge is stuffed full of scientific, historical and scientific learning, and has a huge amount of culture of every conceivable type just waiting to be explored.

The city lies on the River Cam and is the home of the world-respected Cambridge University, some of which dates back to the 16th-century.

The university and college buildings provide nearly all the outstanding architectural features in Cambridge - and it's certainly pretty special. Or, if you prefer your views a little greener, Cambridge has you covered here too. The beauty of the city is enhanced by its myriad of pretty commons and other green spaces, including Jesus Green, Midsummer Common, Sheep’s Green, Lammas Land, Christ’s Pieces, Parker’s Piece, the gorgeous University Botanic Gardens, and the famous 'Backs'.

Consider hiring a punt (or get a guided tour and enjoy the views while someone else does the hard work) for a unique view of some of the city's most iconic and historic locations such as the Bridge of Sighs and the Wren Library.

Bike hire is also ubiquitous in Cambridge and you'll find a number of places where you can hire a bike and pedal your way round the choicest spots.
