Imperial War Museum Duxford

Duxford Imperial War Museum is a great day out for all ages. Watch historic aircraft take to the skies from the airfield where Spitfires first flew, get up close to aircrafts of all shapes and sizes and discover hundreds of stories of daring adventures.

Imperial War Museum Duxford is Europe's largest air museum with over 300 aircraft and objects on display.

During its time as a base for many of the Spitfire and Hurricane pilots during the Second World War, IWM Duxford played an important part in some of the most dramatic days in 20th century history.

Inside every hangar and exhibition - and outside too - there are hundreds of large aircraft, vehicles, boats and more. Walk around them, inside them, and get the chance to see aircraft take off from the historic runway.

The Duxford aerodrome was at the forefront of the battle for England's airspace during World War Two.

Nowadays, it's ben transformed into the Imperial War Museum's aeronautical branch. Get up close to Spitfires and Hurricanes; see a portion of the original Wright Brother plane; walk through Concorde, feel dwarfed by the size of a B-52 and stand in awe of Europe's own SR-71 Blackbird - the fastest jet ever built.
