Test your cycling mettle with this 24km cycle route

Starting in Chester, this circular 15-mile (24km) trail is an intermediate-level ride that’s great if you’re looking for a bit of an endurance challenge

Some parts of the route are traffic-free and you’ll be rewarded with some great countryside views. It follows the National Cycle Network Route 5 to the west of the city of Chester as far as Hawarden Bridge, returning via the riverside cycle path along the River Dee.

It’s a popular route with hikers and runners too, but you can still enjoy some solitude if you pick a quieter time of the day. It takes an average of 3 hours and 25 minutes to complete the loop.
