Pembrokeshire - Barafundle Bay Beach

Swim, walk, relax and enjoy at Barafundle Bay Beach

A small bay backed by dunes and pine trees, accessible only by a half mile walk from the nearest car park. Swathes of golden sand and crystal clear waters, Barafundle has been voted many, many times as one of the best beaches in Britain and the world; it’s often compared to a Caribbean beach!

The National Trust owns and manages the beach, which is backed by trees and dunes.

The beach is sheltered, east-facing, and in a stunning, unspoiled rural setting. Owned by the Public Trust, the ocean side forms part of the South Pembrokeshire Heritage Coast and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The coast path, which includes steep steps, is the only way to get to the beach.

Popular activities include relaxing with a swim or a stroll along the coast path. The Bosherston Lily Ponds, a wildlife haven renowned for its otters, wildfowl, and dragonflies, are located nearby and comprise a significant portion of the land in this region that is part of the Stackpole Estate.

It is a Green Coast and Seaside Award beach. Due to the steep steps leading down to the beach from the cliff top, this location isn't suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Dogs are allowed.
