Cornwall - Holywell Bay Beach

The largest bay on this stretch of Cornish coastline

A classic north Cornish beach with a sweep of golden sand and towering dunes. Popular with all young, old, locals, tourists, surfers, dogs and everyone in between!

As well as the beautiful sands, Holywell has a cave that can only be seen at low tide. Nestled under the southern cliffs of Kelsey Head, you can just about make it out from the beach. At first glance it looks like just a slit, but look closer and you'll see some seaweed covered steps leading up to several stepped pools up towards a hole in the cave roof. But it gets better, at low tide the rusting plates of a 70-year-old wreck can be seen.

Holywell normally has RNLI lifeguard cover from May until September.

The north Cornwall coast is famous for its great surfing beaches. Whether you're an experienced surfer or just learning, Holywell is a fantastic place to take your board.

There are a couple of surf schools at Holywell where you can hire equipment and book some lessons. They're both independent and are the only outdoor providers licensed to operate there.
